Sights and Sounds of Revival
Pastor Will Ellis of the Woodbine-Redeeming River Church of God reports a great revival with Cluster Elder Robert Fletcher, Sr.  Nightly attendance averaged over 100.  A spirit of revival and excitement continues.  In a recent Sunday morning worship service people throughout the congregation began to spontaneously jump up and declare “I’m healed!”  Many great healings have occurred and recently a 61-yr old lady was saved for the very first time in her life.  To God be the glory!

Pastor Jim Hamby of the Damascus-Lighthouse Ministries Church of God reports a great spirit of revival and growth in the church.  The congregation set a new all time tithe record and morning worship attendance record in April.  Pastor Hamby reports they are expecting even greater things in the coming months.  We rejoice with this pastor and congregation in this great report!

Pastor Kenneth Hill and members of Harvest Temple Church of God are “reaching and reaping the harvest through prayer” in their community.  They recently formed a human fortress of prayer outside the church in Forestville, Md. They prayed towards the North, then the East, turned towards the West and ended filing Southwards in prayer. Neighbors began to peer out of windows and stand on apartment balconies to hear the name of Jesus ring out intermittently with shouts of “Hallelujah” and “Thank you Jesus!”  Led by Dr. (Bishop) Kenneth Hill, the church family put their words into action praying towards their community. “This church belongs to God and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it,” declared the Pastor. We come against violence of any kind; we come against murders; we are asking God for a hedge of protection and security around this community, he said.

Pastor Jo Ann Shaw, interim pastor of the College Park Church of God, reports that on a recent Wednesday night one person was filled with the Holy Spirit in a mid-week Bible Study.

News and Views Around the Region

  • Pastor Matthew Ellis of the Cumberland-City of Refuge COG reports that during the week their church was assigned to pray for the "year of prayer for Delmarva-DC" that the entire church fasted and prayed. They are excited to know that the region is becoming a "corporate house of prayer" and look forward to all the testimonies that will come forth as a result of the "brethren dwelling together in unity."
  • Pastor Keith Maxwell reports that over 1,400 children turned out for the first annual Easter EGGstravaganza sponsored by the Easton Church of God on March 31st. The day was filled with lots of excitement, including carnival games, inflatables, carnival rides, concessions, and four age-appropriate egg hunts with 10,000 Easter eggs. The day also included a children's program, at which time 43 children received Christ as their personal Savior. Praise God!
  • Pastor Robert Groves, Jr. (Jacksonville COG) reports how God had placed the Cockeysville Community on his heart. "We had purchased a church van several years ago to go into Cockeysville but God kept drawing me to start a satellite location in Cockeysville. We started our morning worship service at our Jacksonville Campus at 9:30am And Sunday School at 11am, "One great Church with two great locations". So on September 24,2006 we launched our Cockeysville Campus, with 21 in attendance and 2 from the community. After 20 Sunday services there has been only one where there has not been someone new from the community. Many are returning and becoming faithful. We have seen 7 people come to know Christ, many others restored. We are now averaging 43 each week and only 11 are from the Jacksonville campus! God gave me a vision that the Cockeysville Campus would be racially diverse and all ethnics, minister to all socio-economics and minister to a group that other churches have left behind. Each week I see that vision come true I stand before a group with Kenyans, black, and whites, people who are on welfare and people who are well off. God has promised our church that he would show us great and mighty things. We have just completed 21 days of prayer and fasting and we are covering our church with prayer and fasting every day during 2007 because we want to see what God has in store for us! "
